The President of the National Regional State of Tigray Debretsion Gebremichael received a letter from AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki inviting his administration to meetings held as part of the current AU-led peace process for Ethiopia.the letter states that the parties will discuss the guiding principles, agenda items, modalities, format, and dates for the negotiated solution in order to build the groundwork for a structured and ongoing mediation. 

Olusegun Obasanjo, the AU's High Representative for the Horn of Africa, would mediate and lead the peace negotiations, according to the chairperson of the AU Commission, with the assistance of a group of illustrious and accomplished Africans.

In a letter to Debretsion Gebremichael, the president of Tigray, Moussa Faki stated, "While appreciating your proclaimed commitment to peace and stability in Ethiopia, I look forward to your fast response and constructive engagement at the Talks."
