Ethiopia's foreign exchange reserves in 2023 are only expected to cover 0.6 months, or 18 days, of international purchases, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The government responded to a recent speech by Dr. Debretsion G. Michael.
The Ethiopian government has announced that it has not started talks with the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).
In an interview with BBC News last week, TPLF chairman Dr Debretsion G. Michael announced that he had begun talks with the Ethiopian government (indirectly) through other parties.
Dr. Debretsion described the ongoing talk as "promising."
The Ethiopian government's Minister of Communications, Dr. Legesse Tulu, told Deutsche Welle today that the Ethiopian government is open to any opportunity to bring peace.
But so far no talks have been held with the TPLF, Dr. Legesse Tulu told the radio station.
